If you manage deliveries, then you know how time-consuming the process can be without the right tools. From generating order tickets and packing slips to scheduling drivers or routes, these tedious tasks can quickly overwhelm your workday — especially when doing them manually.

Despite advancements in the logistic space, businesses have been slow to level up their delivery management process. We developed Dispatch Connect to solve this exact problem — and we didn't stop there.

Following the release of our Connect product, we've been working hard to develop additional features and integrations that will make it even easier for our customers to manage their in-house fleets. In this article, we'll give a brief overview of the Auto-Fill and API integrations and how they can benefit your business.

What Do These Integrations Do?

These integrations streamline the process of retrieving data from your existing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. While both the Auto-Fill and API integrations reduce the need for manual data entry to save you time, there are marked differences in their implementation. Be sure to review each integration thoroughly before deciding which is best for your business.

Which Integration Is Right for Me?

Auto-Fill Integration

The Auto-Fill integration pulls order data directly from an existing ERP system using URL Parameters. No duplicate entry is needed, and you can review the data before pushing it on to Dispatch Connect for fulfillment. For those with minimal development resources, this is a simple integration that can reduce delivery creation time in Connect by 50%.

API Integration

Similar to Auto-Fill, the API integration allows you to obtain data directly from an existing ERP system. The difference, however, is that the API integration does not use URL Parameters but instead leverages RESTful Connect APIs. If you have access to developer resources and want a custom integration for your ERP, consider the API route. Upon implementation, you'll be able to create orders in Connect programmatically and retrieve information about a specific order by its order ID.
