Conversations With Drivers Series: Eric Lampkin Sr.
After 27 years on the railroad, Eric Lampkin found a new purpose with Dispatch. Discover how he turned gig driving into a full-time business, and why he’s never looked back.
Meet Eric Lampkin, a driver from the Los Angeles market who charted his own path with Dispatch. After retiring from a 27-year career on the railroad, Eric got connected to Dispatch through his firefighter son, who was operating his own courier business.
Initially driving with his son’s business as a Courier Partner, he eventually reached out to our Driver Support Team to become an independent contractor driver and began seeing nearly double the earnings. That shift gave him full control of his schedule, and as he says, “I’ve never missed a day since I started.”
Eric credits his success to consistency, a well-maintained vehicle, and strong communication with support. He encourages new drivers to stay on time, read orders carefully, and take pride in every delivery. “Be on time, don’t grab and release jobs, and communicate clearly with support,” he advises. His journey is a powerful example of what’s possible when dedication meets opportunity.
Watch Eric’s full conversation to hear how he built a thriving delivery business from the ground up.
