Connect, Deliver, Succeed: Discover the Dispatch Difference
At Dispatch, we couldn't be more proud of the drivers that work here. In this Driver Spotlight, we caught up with Rodney and discussed how he came to be at Dispatch. Read on to learn more about him and why driving with Dispatch in the Twin Cities metro area works for him and his family!
How did you hear about Dispatch?
I saw an ad on Craigslist for part-time hourly drivers. I discovered there was an opportunity to drive independently when I was filling out my new hire paperwork.
How long have you been driving with Dispatch?
I tested the waters driving my jeep in May of 2018. In the middle of June, I purchased a used Cargo van and have been going full blast ever since.
What kind of vehicle do you drive?
A 2016 Ram Pro-master.
Why did you decide that Dispatch was the best job fit for you and your lifestyle?
Setting my own schedule makes it possible for me to take on other projects or jobs. My passion is filmmaking. It is great to have the freedom to choose the time I work with Dispatch around film projects. Dispatch work also pays for my van expenses and the van makes a good grip truck for hauling around all my filmmaking gear.
Tell us your favorite Dispatch story!
When I started Dispatch, I was working a part-time night job at a national package handling company, unloading packages from trailers. 1000+ boxes an hour. On my first delivery with Dispatch, I made about the same hourly rate delivering one package. The Dispatch job was way easier for the same or more pay. I am grateful to no longer work in a warehouse unloading semi-trailers.
Why should other people drive with Dispatch?
I have been doing Dispatch full time. It's going great. My wife, who works a regular full-time job, has signed up and takes a few car jobs on weekends to help pay off our credit cards faster. My brother in Orlando is waiting to hear back from Disney. They have a six-month time frame for new hires. Until he is able to land his dream job he is working Dispatch jobs with his pickup truck. It is a great transition job for him. Long story short, I would say that a person can make Dispatch fit their needs.
What is your favorite thing about being able to set your own hours?
I don't need to get approval from anyone to take time off. I just need to slide the app to unavailable and set off on a personal project knowing the next day I can still drive with Dispatch.
Tell us anything else you'd like to know!
I'm excited about how Dispatch is growing. I've done jobs when I found myself in Kansas City. When I visit my brother in Orlando, I can see myself doing orders down there. The more Dispatch expands, the more I'll be able to move and work anywhere Dispatch is established. My wife and I want to explore the country and think it will be a great way to travel and semi-retire in the future. I hear Phoenix is warm this time of year. I'm hoping Dispatch expands to Alaska in the next 2 years.
