In this Driver Spotlight, we hear from Norm. As one of our longest-tenured Dispatch Drivers, Norm has been a stabilizing force for new and existing customers in our Cincinnati, OH, market since 2017. Read on to hear how he got started with Dispatch and what makes it his favorite driver app to use.
I was an Uber driver in the spring of 2017, and I picked up Ryan and a couple other people for a run. We started talking about Dispatch, and they asked if that sounded interesting to me. Of course, I said yes, and we exchanged cards to keep in touch. As fate would have it, I was able to pick them up again and take them to Cincinnati. We talked some more and kept in touch over the summer. Then Dispatch started in Cincinnati that November.
I started part-time in November 2017, driving a Dispatch van, then went independent in July 2018. So three and a half years.

I like the flexibility of driving with Dispatch. I also like that I am responsible for my financial earnings and that it's not dependent on a company that only gives a raise annually or doesn't allow overtime, etc.
I've been fortunate to deliver to some interesting places and meet some good people. I've delivered to a stadium jobsite when it was beginning and several times during construction — just seeing the progress was great. I suppose the best story is when either at pickup or delivery, the customer says, "We were not expecting you for a while!" Exceeding expectations is the best.
Schedule flexibility, weekly pay, sunny days...
Vacation anytime. If I need to get something done that I can't complete on the weekends, I can easily take time off to do it.
Be respectful to all customers at pickup and delivery. One paid for the order, and the other is a prospective customer.
Watch out for the crazies on the road. They're everywhere!
