✅ Closed a same-day delivery gap its morning-only subcontractor couldn't cover.
✅ Turned on-demand delivery into a customer loyalty driver and a sales differentiator.
✅ Eliminated invoice corrections with real-time, upfront rate quoting.
✅ Reduced “where's my order?” calls with full tracking and ETAs.
✅ Gained pricing visibility that protects margins instead of guessing at delivery costs.
Base Solutions, a multi-location HVAC and plumbing distributor, relied on a subcontractor whose routes ran only from early morning to midday, leaving every afternoon and evening same-day request unserved. As demand for same-day service grew, Base Solutions needed a flexible logistics partner to cover that gap without building expensive in-house delivery infrastructure.
Base Solutions is a multi-location distributor serving the HVAC and plumbing industries. Like many distributors, the company relies on subcontractors for logistics and deliveries.
However, its subcontractor operated on limited hours, starting early in the morning and completing routes by midday. This created a critical service gap: customers requesting same-day delivery in the afternoon and early evening went unserved.
As demand for same-day service grew, Base Solutions faced a choice: lose business or find a flexible logistics partner that could handle afternoon and evening deliveries without building expensive in-house infrastructure.
“We were seeking a solution for the middle-of-the-day to end-of-the-day service gap," said Aaron Rowland, Director of Operations at Base Solutions. "Customers requesting same-day delivery were unable to be served based on the route limitations of our subcontractor. That's why we started investigating Dispatch."
Base Solutions implemented DispatchOne as an afternoon and evening delivery layer that complements its morning subcontractor, giving the company flexibility to serve customers throughout the day without adding assets, plus real pricing visibility and control over last-mile operations.
Base Solutions implemented Dispatch’s last-mile logistics platform, DispatchOne, as an afternoon delivery solution to complement its morning subcontractor. The platform gave the company flexibility to serve customer requests throughout the day without additional assets. More importantly, it gave them real pricing visibility and control over last-mile operations.
Key Capabilities Base Solutions Leverages:
This turnkey approach was essential. As Aaron noted, the platform needed to be easy for store-level staff to use quickly. If it slowed down their process, it wouldn't stick. DispatchOne fit that need perfectly.
Base Solutions has turned reliable same-day delivery into a customer loyalty driver and a sales differentiator, while its operations team has seen the biggest impact internally: fewer invoice corrections, fewer status-check calls, and clearer pricing that protects margins.
Strengthening Customer Loyalty
Base Solutions’ customers now expect same-day delivery as part of the service. By consistently meeting that expectation, the company has turned a basic capability into a loyalty driver. Customers who can rely on fast, trackable delivery keep coming back. This level of reliability shifts relationships from transactional to long-term.
A Sales Bullet Point That Sticks
Base Solutions uses on-demand delivery as a key selling point when pursuing new business, and existing customers now expect it. Instead of competing on price alone, they’ve added a service advantage that’s harder to replicate and keeps customers coming back.
Control and Visibility Reduce Friction
The biggest impact isn’t customer-facing. It’s what Base Solutions’ operations team experiences day to day. Real-time rate quoting eliminates invoice corrections, tracking visibility reduces "where's my order?" calls, and clear pricing protects margins. The result is fewer headaches, meaningful time savings, and a smoother path to the next order.
"It's invaluable to get that customer service where we want it. We love the visibility, and the rates and quoting part of your system is very handy. We're not guessing at delivery costs anymore. We're covering our operational cost, and the customer gets accurate pricing. That's a huge value add," concluded Aaron.
